Are Candles Safe to Use?

Candles are safe when used properly and responsibly, following the manufacturer’s instructions. To ensure safe use, always follow these common-sense guidelines:

• Never leave a burning candle unattended

• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets

• Trim the wick to the recommended length before each use

• Keep candles away from drafts, vents, and flammable materials

• Extinguish candles that begin to smoke (check manufacturer instructions before relighting)

• Extinguish candles when ½ inch of wax remains in the container

• Use only candle holders designed specifically for candle use

• Keep matches, wick trimmings, and other debris out of the wax

• Extinguish the flame if it burns too close to the container or holder

• Never move a glass container while the wax is still liquid
