How can one tell whether a candle has a lead-core wick?

All of our wicks are made of 100% cotton. To check if a candle has a lead-core wick, consumers can perform a simple test: Rub the tip of an unused metal wick on a piece of paper. If it leaves a gray, pencil-like mark, the wick may contain lead. Wicks made from zinc, tin, cotton, paper, or other non-metal materials will not leave a mark and are considered safe.
